Funke Akindele, a popular Nigerian actress and maker turned politician, has chastised the Lagos state government over the new flood scare.

This comes after several warnings were issued about a looming flood in the state.

Funke Akindele called the Lagos State Government irresponsible for failing to declare a state of crisis, particularly in the state’s riverine networks.

“After speaking with individuals in several wards across the state, I feel a sense of urgency to share my concern about the safety of Lagosians in all areas of the state,” she composed on Instagram.

The Lagos state government provided a flood warning for several parts of the state, yet has yet to declare a state of crisis or share a detailed response plan in the occasion that flooding endangers residents’ lives. The fact that Lagos State has not declared a state of crisis, particularly in riverine networks, is very irresponsible and endangers many Lagosians.
